What happened to summer? It flew by in a flurry of busyness and I barely had a chance to enjoy it. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that fall is here and that it has ushered in cooler weather (What can I say? I like it hot). As I head to Colorado for a week of vacation, I’m looking forward to spending time with my son and granddaughter and enjoying the golden landscape of the Rockies as the aspen trees turn yellow. This month’s theme is forgiveness. Next to obedience, it is my opinion that forgiveness is the second most difficult thing for us to do. Forgiveness runs counter to human nature. When someone hurts us, we want that person to be held accountable for his or her actions; we want justice for being wronged. To be brutally honest, we want that person to hurt too. The fact is God could demand payment from us too. The price for the wrongs we commit against him is death. I give praise and thanks to God for sending Jesus Christ to pay my debt through his death on the cross! I know we don’t like to hear it, but God commands us to forgive. If you are struggling to forgive someone, I hope and pray that the articles in this issue will help you find your way to let go and forgive. New this issue is the column “Write Where It Hurts” by Jo Ann Fore. This column is designed to help you use expressive writing and biblical truth to reconcile painful experiences with God’s purpose for our lives. Here are survey results for those who are curious. Sixty percent of those who answered want Glory and Strength to go monthly. That is encouraging. I will keep this before the Lord in prayer and wait for his guidance. One hundred percent of respondents said Glory and Strength is meeting their expectations. Again, that is exciting to hear. Thank you for your ideas for future features, and I will work to bring you articles that address the topic of inner beauty and confidence.
